MEMORY #12 (TEMPTATION) // SIGNIFICANT NEGATIVE
I felt a little weird making a headcanon memory a sig neg BUT when this occurred to me, I realized it was pretty much . . . a given that it had happened to him at some point in the past and that it fucked with him a lot at the time SO W/E W/E!
SO this relates back to the Kor which I mentioned in his OTHER headcanon memory about his three wishes!
HERE'S HOW KOR WORK: a kor is a demon, basically, which offers to grant wishes! They disguise themselves as something that will be tempting to a person and try to rope them into a contract of sorts. If the person accepts, they'll be branded with the mark of a kor and have a wish granted to them. Then they'll . . . kind of obsessively want another one, and start developing physical symptoms, and so on. Once you have a kor's seal, it's pretty much a slow decline as you give in and seek more wishes from the kor, unless a bishop heals you!
Once you make three deals with the kor, you lose your soul, and you turn into a wars, which is a TERRIBLE MONSTER which can be controlled by warsfeil. i.e. that thing that Konatsu's family hated him for NOT BEING.
So, the memory! This happened right before Konatsu entered the academy, so he was maybe like, idk, 12? Tweenish. He was out running errands late and he ran into a decorated, austere military man who stopped him to talk to him but was also SUPER SHADY, and eventually offered Konatsu a spot in the military without even having to bother with the academy! And MAYBE WE CAN EVEN GET YOU INTO THE BLACK HAWKS EVENTUALLY HUHUHU.
The whole thing was super obvious (kor are generally not the MOST subtle ha ha) and Konatsu pinged right away to what this guy was, because he'd been warned, and he's not that dumb even if he can be gullible sometimes! But he still paused and kind of considered it anyway, because . . . if he became a wars he'd basically be a soulless doll and die but he'd finally be of use to his family. His family of warsfeil who would be able to control his body and use him as a weapon!
So he had a moment of considering it, and the kor pinged onto that and tried taking that angle instead, and Konatsu had a crisis of being seriously tempted to give up his soul and humanity as a shortcut to being accepted by his elders and not having to deal anymore with his life of CONSTANT STRIVING TO MAKE UP FOR THE WAY HE WAS BORN. :'(
In the end he couldn't bring himself to go through with it, freaked out, ran off, and spent all night wondering whether he should have just gone through with it. He never told anyone about it because he was afraid his family would just tell him to his face that he should have.
WHAT HE LEARNS:
* I was pretty miserably screwed up as a kid
* My family would have liked it if I'd lost my soul . . . ? MAYBE? Oh god what was wrong with our relationship
* Personal experience with a kor and better knowledge of what they do and what happens to their victims
* Warsfeil can "use" people after they lose their souls? Or something? (Note though that he doesn't remember his family's whole deal yet)
* ALMOST KILLED MYSELF FOR ACCEPTANCE YEAAAH GOOD CHOICES
